The end of the world is here and it couldn’t be funnier. The red band trailer of ‘This Is The End’ has finally arrived, and the film looks hilarious. The film has a massive cast of celebrity comedy stars, some of which will be feature characters and some of which are likely to appear in cameos and likely face gruesome and hilarious deaths. To name a few, the cast will include Seth Rogen, James Franco Jonah Hill, Jason Segel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Mindy Kaling and Kevin Hart among many others.
Here is the trailer. Check it out:
Looks pretty crazy right? From what we can see here, I’m anticipating a lot of crazy, over the top violence and a group of comedians just having a blast doing something that they don’t get to do very often: playing themselves. I’m 90% sure that most of these guys probably act like complete idiots on a day to day basis in their every day lives, and they certainly do so when they are in character, so a nice balance between the two is sure to have a chance at success.
Some highlights from the trailer include Emma Watson swinging a massive axe at our heroes, looking completely psychotic and unlike anything we’ve seen from her before, Rihanna falling to her death into a giant magma hole and Michael Cera getting impaled by what looks like a flying telephone pole (something I’m sure we’ve all wished we could see).
For other details into the film we may have to wait for the final release, but it looks like the apocalypse on show is some form of mash up between the Bible, alien invasion and a global warming induced disaster. We see alien ships, weird creatures, earthquakes and more, but no matter what the situation is, the comedy is going to come from the fantastic group of comedians. These kinds of ‘epic’ comedies, where so many actors get involved in the project in some way, don’t come around all that often. When they do, they aren’t always successful, but with this one I have a feeling we will be on to something hilarious.
Here is a look at the earlier ‘This Is The End’ teaser, for those who haven’t seen it already. My personal favorite is Danny McBride’s little nod to James Franco’s rather bold on screen actions in his movie ‘The Broken Tower.’ Burn!
