Brace yourselves folks. A new Mad Max: Fury Road trailer has been released and it is absolutely bonkers. I mean, this thing is just ridiculous. Right from the get go, we see an imprisoned Max (Tom Hardy) held by some crazy looking, white faced lunatics and from there the insanity begins. It appears as though Charlize Theron’s character ‘Furiosa’ is attempting to help a group of female prisoners escape, and being pursued by the same maniacs who have Max. This is going to be one hell of a chase.
This trailer is literally two entire minutes of madness. There’s about 3 lines of dialogue and a non stop barrage of car chases, sand storms, explosions, flying bodies, gun shots and screaming faces. George Miller is known for bringing together some absolutely incredibly stunt work on a minimal budget, back when special effects didn’t really exist and things had to be staged for real. So one can only imagine that with Mad Max: Fury Road he’s taking the opportunity to make the movie he actually imagined the first time, but had to scale back for the current technology. Like a kid in a candy store, and it would appear that Mr. Miller is eating all the candy.
As mentioned already Tom Hardy will star as Max, and Charlize Theron will join him as a mysterious woman called Imperator Furiosa. In addition, the cast will include Zoe Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and it would appear that Hugh Keays-Byrne will act as a primary villain (he of course played the bad guy in the original Mad Max, so this is a nice little homage). Many of the cast will likely be unrecognizable though, due to insane costumes and makeup. Those who are recognizable may not be by the time they get ran over by a car tire or blown to smithereens.
We’ll get to find out when Mad Max: Fury Road is released on May 15.
